Working Party – 9 Aug 2023

We had a great turnout of 12 people, including the United Utilities river rangers, so we were able to get a couple of important jobs done. We trimmed back the vegetation at the entrance to the Twinneys car park so the sight lines are now clear for cars turning out of the car park.

We also had a good go at one of the patches of willow alongside the river. About ten years ago we undertook some major bank stabilisation with the Environment Agency whereby we strengthened the bank with a variety of natural materials including willow. The willow was very successful but unfortunately needs pruning regularly so the roots further strengthen the banks and to clear the view of the river.
